Who This Coaching Is For

Equus Coaching is an ideal fit for non-clinical goals, including:

Entrepreneurs, executives, and leaders looking to refine their leadership presence and team communication

Individuals navigating major life transitions (career changes, empty nesting, relationship shifts)

Anyone seeking a fast-tracked, visceral, and experiential approach to life coaching

Individuals who want the profound self-awareness that comes from working with horses without the framework of clinical therapy

While equine therapy heals wounds from the past, Equus Coaching builds a bridge to your future. It is an experiential learning environment where you can try on new ways of being and receive immediate, physical feedback. Through this work, clients consistently learn how to:

  • Embody Authentic Leadership — Discover how to lead with clarity, calm authority, and presence—skills that translate directly to executive boardrooms and family dynamics.
  • Master the Language of Energy — Learn to identify when your inner thoughts match your outer expression (congruence). When you drop your mask, the horse immediately responds with trust and connection.
  • Establish Clean Boundaries — Practice saying “no” or holding your ground without anger, guilt, or anxiety, and witness how a 1,200-pound animal respects your clear space.
  • Break Through “Stuckness” — Uncover the hidden behavioral habits, self-doubt, or coping mechanisms that keep you stalling, overworking, or procrastinating in daily life.

The Experience Architecture

The Equus Coaching™ experience is thoughtfully structured to be flexible, ground-based, and translated into real action for your daily life.

Format & Session Design (Tailored to You)

Your coaching goals are unique, and your time in the arena should be, too. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all formats. Both your session length and the total number of sessions are fully customizable to meet your specific needs.

  • Custom Session Lengths — Whether you need a highly focused 90-minute breakthrough session, a half-day deep dive, or an immersive multi-day experience, we can tailor the timeframe to match your pace and goals.
  • Flexible Packages — Some clients achieve exactly the clarity they need in a single, powerful session. Others prefer to book a multi-session container (spanning several weeks or months) to anchor long-term behavior shifts and leadership habits. We will co-create a timeline that feels right for you.

How a Session Works

  • 100% Ground-Based — Just like our therapy work, there is absolutely no riding involved, and zero horse experience is required.
  • The Round Pen Experience — Most coaching sessions take place in a contained round pen. You will be guided through simple, hands-off interactive exercises with a loose horse—such as asking the horse to walk with you, stop, change directions, or connect with you.
  • On-the-Spot Coaching — As the horse shifts its posture, walks away, or approaches you, I will coach you through what is happening internally. We explore what your body is feeling, what thoughts are driving your movements, and how changing your internal energy completely changes the horse's behavior in real time.
  • The Blueprint for Life — We spend the final portion of our session translating the breakthroughs in the arena into a practical action plan for your daily life, career, or relationships.

For Colorado Locals & Out-of-State Travelers

Our private arena spaces are nestled along Colorado's beautiful Front Range serving clients locally in Boulder, Longmont, and Golden. However, you do not have to live in Colorado to experience this work. Because coaching does not have strict state-by-state licensing restrictions on clinical therapy, this space is open to anyone nationwide or globally.

If you are traveling from outside of Colorado, we can design a concentrated, custom coaching immersion over a weekend or a few consecutive days, allowing you to fly into Denver International Airport, complete a profound arc of self-discovery, and return home with a concrete action plan.

Integration

For profound losses — the death of a child, a life partner, a dearest friend "getting over it" may never fully happen and probably should not. The goal is integration: weaving the loss into the fabric of who you are, so that it deepens rather than diminishes you. Grief, fully tended, can be one of the most powerful forces for growth and aliveness available to us.

The Horses as Witnesses to Loss

Horses are extraordinarily sensitive to grief. They seem to recognize the frequency of a person in mourning, and they often respond with a quiet, steady presence that many clients describe as the most comforting companionship they have experienced since the loss. There is something about being witnessed by a creature that wants nothing from you except your honest presence that creates a unique permission for grief to move.

Who Can Benefit?

Grief therapy at Lexie Glisson Therapy and Wellness LCSW may be right for you if you:

Are mourning the death of a person or animal who was central to your life

Lost someone months or years ago but find the grief still interferes with your daily life, relationships, or sense of self

Have never had a genuine space to grieve, and carry losses that were never fully witnessed or acknowledged

Are experiencing what feels like complicated grief where mourning has become stuck, overwhelming, or consuming

Are grieving a traumatic loss and find that the trauma and the grief are intertwined in ways that ordinary bereavement support hasn't fully addressed

Are drawn to the idea of working with horses as a particularly safe and non-demanding space to let grief move

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need any horse experience?

No. Equus Coaching is 100% ground-based; there is no riding involved, and zero horse experience is required. You will be guided through simple, hands-off exercises with a loose horse in a contained round pen.

  • Is this therapy? Will we be working through trauma?

No. Equus Coaching is a non-clinical, forward-facing coaching process. There is no clinical diagnosis, no treatment planning, and no deep dive into psychological trauma. We focus on your present-day patterns and how you want to move forward in your life, career, and relationships, rather than processing past wounds.

  • Where are sessions held, and do I need to travel to Colorado?

EquiLateral® is designed specifically for trauma that feels stuck, chronic, or overwhelming to talk about. If you experience anxiety, hyper-vigilance, or emotional shutdown, this approach may reach what traditional therapy does not have. A consultation helps us assess fit carefully and safely.

  • I'm traveling from out of state, how does that work?

We can design a concentrated, custom coaching immersion over a weekend or a few consecutive days. You will fly into Denver International Airport, complete a focused arc of self-discovery, and return home with a concrete action plan.

  • How long is the session, and how much will I need?

There's no fixed format; both session length and total session count are fully customizable to your goals. Some clients get exactly what they need from a single 90-minute breakthrough session or a half-day deep dive; others prefer a multi-session container spanning several weeks or months to anchor longer-term behavior and leadership shifts. We'll co-create a timeline that fits you.

  • What actually happens during a session with the horse?

Most sessions take place in a contained round pen, where you're guided through simple, hands-off interactive exercises with a loose horse such as asking it to walk with you, stop, change direction, or connect with you. As the horse responds to your energy in real time, you're coached through what's happening internally, and the session closes by translating those breakthroughs into a practical action plan for daily life.
